The Roman Colosseum is a fantastic piece of architecture. Every nook and cranny holds a historic significance, a real eye opener.
Make sure to get yourself a guided when you enter kimmyV and I was in a small group for about 45 minutes. He did explain the story behind the architecture – the social classes during Roman empire, the battle of Gladiators, their hidden surprise rooms below the battlegrounds, etc.
We spent at least 2 hours roaming around and exploring this wonderful monument in and out of the crazy weather. The Roman ruins and other popular landmarks are also close by when you are done with this gem, Purchase tickets online to avoid very long queue, I’ve read other reviews and most say go in the morning to avoid huge crowds we went late afternoon and walked straight in.

As you can see the weather turned for the worst but I was fortunate enough to take this photo while we high tail it to our accommodation. Such a cool place. There are not enough words to describe how incredible it is to be in the presence of such magnificent construction. If you are in Italy please do visit Rome. It’s not a gorgeous city! And the food isn’t that amazing as many reviews say. I will say the there architectural buildings and the designs they thought out hundreds of years ago just outstanding.
